Wellness News: Major Portfolio Growth in Germany
Therme Group has announced the acquisition of the full Thermengruppe Josef Wund portfolio, marking a major expansion of its thermal wellness resort network. The acquisition includes three major thermal destinations in Germany—Euskirchen, Sinsheim, and Titisee-Neustadt—and follows the group’s previous purchase of Therme Erding. With this move, Therme Group now holds all Wund wellness properties, bringing them under the Therme Horizon platform, its joint venture with global investment firm CVC.

These destinations, beloved by locals and wellness travelers alike, will now benefit from Therme Group’s vision for integrating tradition with innovation. In this Wellness News report, it is noted that founder and CEO Robert Hanea emphasized his long-standing relationship with the Wund family and shared his commitment to honoring their legacy while introducing these resorts to a broader global audience.
Therme’s Growing Global Footprint
The inclusion of the Wund resorts increases Therme Group’s operating sites to five locations that together serve over 5.3 million visitors annually. Construction has already begun on the sixth resort in Manchester, UK, while new developments are underway in Frankfurt, Toronto, Dallas, Washington DC, Singapore, and Dubai. The company is also planning two major wellness resorts in Thailand with plans to be announced in 2026. These international projects reflect Therme’s commitment to spreading its wellness-centered hospitality model worldwide.
Chairman of the Josef Wund Foundation, Christoph Palm, welcomed the acquisition, stating it safeguards the legacy of founder Josef Wund while continuing to serve local communities. CVC’s managing partner István Szőke also stressed that the unification of these destinations under the Therme Horizon umbrella not only preserves an entrepreneurial legacy but will also elevate global standards for sustainable and innovative wellness infrastructure.
Therme Group’s expansion sends a strong signal that the future of hospitality lies in wellness-driven experiences rooted in both cultural identity and global accessibility. By blending the traditions of the Wund resorts with Therme’s forward-thinking model, the group aims to redefine the thermal wellness sector across multiple continents.
